Last updated: 6 September 2026
This policy covers Zonely on iPhone, Mac, and Android. Zonely is designed so your timezone and availability data stays on the device you installed. This policy describes what the app stores locally, what (if anything) leaves that device, and what we do not collect. We do not operate user accounts, cloud sync, or developer analytics. Devices do not sync with each other: each install has its own local store. Where a section applies to one platform only, it says so.
On-device storage
Zonely stores data on the current device only, in the app's local storage for that platform (on iPhone and Mac, an App Group store). On iPhone, that store is also shared with Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets. This includes:
- Home and tracked locations: labels, cities, countries, IANA time zones, work hours and work days, holidays, and (on iPhone) widget preferences
- 12/24-hour clock and appearance settings
- Cached weather snapshots keyed by time zone
- On iPhone, assistant session UI state held in memory during use — not synced to a Zonely server
- On Mac, the same location/schedule snapshot plus Mac-only prefs (onboarding, featured row, launch-at-login, compact label) stay on that Mac
Adding a coworker on one device does not make it appear on another. Uninstalling Zonely removes locally stored data from that device only.
Data retention and deletion
Zonely keeps no user data on any server. All data is stored on your device and is retained until you delete it in the app or uninstall Zonely, which removes it. The one exception is the approximate coordinates that the iPhone and Mac apps send to Apple's WeatherKit service for weather (see Network use): those are handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy, not by Zonely. To ask a question about data deletion, email support@zonely.fyi.
Purchases
Paying for Zonely goes through the store you installed it from — the App Store on iPhone and Mac, Google Play's billing system on Android. Zonely never sees your payment details.
No accounts, backend, or developer analytics
Zonely does not offer login, cloud sync, iCloud sync, or team sharing operated by us. We do not run our own backend for your location or schedule data.
The app does not include third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking SDKs. We do not collect usage data for marketing or product analytics.
Location and GPS
Zonely does not use Core Location or GPS. Weather coordinates come from a built-in time-zone → city table for the tracked zones you add — not from your current physical location.
Microphone and speech
iPhone only. If you opt into voice input in the on-device assistant, Zonely uses Apple's on-device speech stack. Microphone access is requested only when you choose voice input. Speech is not sent to a Zonely server. Mac v1 has no assistant or voice input, and Android has no voice input today.
Apple Intelligence and Foundation Models
iPhone only. On supported iPhones, you may optionally use Apple Intelligence / Foundation Models to parse natural-language requests such as “add this location.” Processing happens on device. You can always add locations manually without Apple Intelligence. Parsed requests are not sent to a Zonely server. Mac v1 has no assistant, and Android has no assistant.
Network use
iPhone and Mac. The only network transmission in Zonely is decorative weather, and it goes to Apple's WeatherKit service. Whenever the app (or, on iPhone, a widget or Live Activity) refreshes while online, Zonely asks WeatherKit for conditions at the approximate latitude and longitude of your home and tracked time zones, derived from the built-in city table rather than from GPS. Requests do not include a user ID or a Zonely API key. If a request fails, the app falls back to weather already cached on your device. There is no separate weather switch in the current apps, so this request happens automatically while you are online. Weather is the only network access Zonely has; there is no cloud account or sync on any platform.
Those coordinates are received and handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy, not by Zonely. Inside the apps, weather is credited with the Apple Weather trademark and Apple's legal link, as Apple requires wherever its weather data is shown.
Android. Zonely for Android does not show weather, so it sends no coordinates and makes no network requests for it.
Widgets, Live Activity, and Dynamic Island
iPhone only. Home Screen widgets, Lock Screen widgets, optional pinned Live Activity, and Dynamic Island read the same local App Group snapshot on that iPhone. Live Activity uses Apple's ActivityKit on device. This data is not sent to Zonely. Mac v1 has no desktop widgets, notifications, or Dynamic Island. Android has no Live Activity, Dynamic Island, or Apple Intelligence.
Work status disclaimer
Working now, Before work, After work, Weekend, and On holiday statuses are inferred from schedules and holidays you configure — not from real-time presence, calendar access, or live location. They indicate likely availability, not whether someone is actually at their desk.
Store privacy summaries
The App Store and Google Play ask the same questions in different forms. The answers differ because the apps do: only the iPhone and Mac apps show weather.
App Store (App Privacy)
- Tracking: No
- Data linked to you: No
- Approximate location (weather coordinates for your home and tracked time zones, not linked to you) is disclosed for App Functionality; it is sent to Apple's WeatherKit service
- On-device microphone, speech, and Apple Intelligence processing are handled on device and are not collected by Zonely
Google Play Data safety
- No data collected or shared. Zonely for Android does not show weather, so no location — approximate or otherwise — leaves the device
- No location sharing: the app has no weather provider to send coordinates to, and it does not use GPS
- Nothing else leaves the device: no personal info, messages, photos, contacts, calendar, app activity, device IDs, audio, or purchase history
- Deletion: uninstalling removes all local data; questions to support@zonely.fyi
